Guest guest
Hello! Being new here I have so many questions. Yes, my doctor just started me on pancrealipase a few weeks agao and I don't think it is helping at all. My stomach swells so much that I look 6 months pregnant. I stopped taking pain pills as of yesterday morning because of the crap drs kept giving me. Oh you are gonna get addicted. Now what? Guest guest
Kathy, I'm so sorry you have this disease too. We all hear know how you feel. I'm tired a lot of the time too. I've recently started taking antioxidants based on a study done in England. It seems to help some, though I do still tire easily, I at least have a little more energy. Below is the information on it. Reference: S. Uden et al. Antioxidant therapy for recurrent pancreatitis: placebo controlled trial. Alimentary Pharmacology and Theurapeutics 1990 4: 357-71 Summary available at following website: http://www.jr2.ox.ac.uk/bandolier/band4/b5-4.html Antioxidant amounts recommended from Study: 600 µg Organic selenium 9000 IU beta-carotene 0.54 g Vitamin C 270 IU Vitamin E 2 g methionine Kimber -- Kimber Vallejo, CA hominid2@... I also have several research articles and pages of information on the benefits of this therapy that I would be happy to post for any of the newer members that would be interested. I am still researching pancreatic cancer and the benefits of antioxidants as a preventative therapy. There is a lot of information to go through....! It appears the results of the pancreatic cancer/antioxidant study at the Hutchinson Cancer Research facility have not yet been published. I will continue checking on this. To add a note to the information Kimber just sent about pancreatic cancer, while smoking is surely the highest known risk for this cancer, studies also show that people who are overweight are more at risk.
