Guest guest
This is my first post on the new group, but we've been SCDing for over three years now. It started for my son, Peyton (5), who has PDD but primarily extreme short bowel syndrome (lost over 80% of small intestine, mostly ileum). Last year, I had a momentary lapse of reason and tried soaked oatmeal for a while. It didn't seem to worsen the autistic behaviors and actually seemed to improve things for a while, then all you-know-what broke loose. The damage to his colon/anus was so bad that he almost had to have a colostomy. The docs here (Dayton, OH) were and still are hesitant to " blame " it on the oats, but I know. We're only now getting things calmed down, and we've never dealt with stuff this bad since going SCD. Anyway, not having ANY local dietary support (in fact, it's been very hostile and secretive) has been horrible. We are moving near Nashville, TN, and I just wanted to see if anyone knew any medical or other supportive resources there. I know there's Vanderbilt, but I just suspect more of the same from them. I would love to be pleasantly surprised. Thanks in advance for any info. Donna Jo
