Nana,

If no new foods have been added, sounds like the 3 month regression to me. The

redness around the bum, dark circles under the eyes and behavioral and stool

changes all at the same time are all standard symptoms. It lasted nearly 3

weeks for us, but everything (behavior, communtication, digestion...) was

improved on the other side. Regressions have proven hard but worth it. It's

best to go to the foods that are the easiest to digest during this time.

Take care,

much, but we're still a little insecure here and need some help

sorting things out. Mike, 27 months old with ASD, SCD 3 months, 4

day rotational diet (because of sensitivities) 7 weeks, has been

progressing well (much more babbling, eye contact, engagement,

signing, etc.) with formed stools every day the last 2 weeks, but

had loose combined with watery stools today with nothing obviously

undigested. He also has red skin right around the anus, circles

under his eyes, and has been acting as if he had a sore tummy. His

general behavior is also off. We're trying to figure out if one of

his foods is bothering him (only change this week was switching from

purple to white grape juice on day 3 because we read that this is

easier to digest) or if this is what people are talking about when

they describe either yeast dieoff or 3-month regression. He was

very yeasty and has been on the following for 3 months: Nystatin

(from compounding pharmacy), Probiotics, Pro DHA, ASD Plex, and B12

shots. He also started Kirkman's TMG 3 weeks ago. Could the change

in juice have caused this or should we wait and see if day 3 is bad

the next time around? Again, thanks. This diet does so much for

these little guys, but I don't know how you pioneers survived

without the help we're now getting from you.

Die off is common in adults on SCD as well and not neccessarily linked to yeast.

Did the sore tummy start just with the loose stools did or did he

have the sore tummy when you switched the juice. Is it possible he

has a stomach bug? Whether it is 3 month flare or a stomach bug a

couple of days of a basic diet (all cooked and peeled fruit and

veggies) maybe the intro if necessary is probably your best bet. To

prevent dehydration with the diarrhea :Diluted legal juice and/or

the electrolyte mix from http://pecanbread.com/recipes.html

ELECTROLYTE DRINK

from the LI Listserve

1 quart boiled water

2 tbsp. honey

1/4 tsp. of salt

1/4 tsp.baking soda

Can be kept in refrigerator for 24 hours.

After that, a new batch should be made.

Has his yeast problems improved at all since being on the diet?

Thanks. We'll try that. (The sore tummy did come the day after the diluted

white grap juice.)

Thanks for the quick reply . I sure hope it is shorter than 3 weeks.

I guess if it clears up in a day or 2, then can we assume a food is

involved?
