" I'm wondering just what this could be? I have IBS but don't know why. My son has chronic constipation though not as bad as other children. He will go 3-4 days without a bm, have one each day for a few days or have one day of a lot of pooping (he would eat a lot of fruit I think because of the laxative effect), then the cycle would start all over again. He's doing so much better on the diet. so why worry about giving it a diagnosis. I guess it would just help because I'm a concrete thinker in some ways. I'd like to know what happened here. If it isn't celiac then perhaps he will be able to use that information in the future. If it is just dybiosis then don't we heal the gut, stay on a healthy diet and probiotics and hopefully we'll be better? I was better for along time after ds was born. I lost a ton of weight due to a bland, simple diet..not healthy, I'll admit, but when i started eating again, I could have bread and no problem. It was the spices, garlic, some cheeses, restaurant foods that got me; not the whole grains and milk. I loved eating grains, not because I had this crazy addiction for carbs like that but because I felt full and energetic. Alas, I've bought into this diet now because after 3 weeks ds is doing a ton better, i'm feeling more energetic but my IBS is still there. I figure I just have to get this thing healed. So what else could constipation be? I understand it's a leaky gut symptom but.... I guess I should stop questioning and just do, but I'm feel that being open to the possibilities is a plus. I don't feel like any doc is going to look at my son and say he needs to be on this diet. So the only support I feel that I have is here because most docs, even some who support the use of SCD, will not think that ds is serious enough to be on the SCDiet. Guest guest
For my daughter her constipation was poor muscles not pushing the stool down fast enough. She has a bad candida infection. If there has been a history of antibiotic use like Kali, then there will be a yeast and gut problem causing constipation. This is just our experience though. Guest guest
No, no history of antibiotics but I'm wondering if either I could have passed it on to him or if the iron drops at 12 months could have caused this. His muscle tone is pretty good in his gut, per what the GI doc said. How do you all get tested for candiasis? gwen Jim and Jen jlessard@...> wrote: For my daughter her constipation was poor muscles not pushing the stool down fast enough.
