Guest guest
Floating stools is a sign of steatorrhea a condition that happens when fat is not digested or broken down. Found this out when diagnosed with Celiac Disease and various other malabsorption problems. This also causes true constipation...pseudo constipation (when finally go it is diarrhea)....not just diarrhea like many think. Guest guest
Isn't it sort of strange that he's only had one floating stool, and no other ones? I wouldn't think yeast or steatorrhea would be transient like that. If it's only happened once I am inclined not to worry about it (we've got enough other things to worry about ... blood in stool, night time tummy pains, mommy's and daddy's exhaustion ...). Or am I mistaken? What do you think? Suzanne > Floating stools is a sign of steatorrhea a condition that happens when fat is not digested or broken down. Guest guest
I see incongruent stool patterns, night time tummy pains, blood in stool, and parental exhaustion all symptoms of the same problem, not seperate from one another. By the time blood is in the stool, there has already existed leaky gut, possibly from birth. With a thinning/damage/insufficient, what have you mucosal layer, a mixture of bad pathogens, which can be fungal, bacterial and viral move in, because they can. 95% of the immune system is located in the digestive system. One is not seperate from the other. When the digestive system is this damaged, it affects all other body systems, from nervous to lymph. Malabsorption prevents the brain from getting the fuel it needs, it prevents the endocrine system from functionning correctly, it weakens the immune system further, it slows down the lymph systems ability to transport toxins from the body. By toxins, I not only mean exposures through air, water and enviornment, but very much the byproducts of human metabolism as well. In such a case, there are infections present. A depressed immune system can't keep up, gets overworked, confused mistaking things that are not pathogens after awhile as well. My little boy Ben slept with me every night, until after a few months of SCD. He still had stomach pains occassionally. They went down from hourly at night, what I call the " Yeasting Hour " , and happened less and less, until they stopped completely. We have been through this too, and through SCD and enzymes, this phase of his life is finally coming to a close. Symptoms can vary expression and be transient. The symptom is within a complex of symptoms, pointing to overgrowth of pathogenic organisms and immune suppression. That's what I think, based on my experience, research, and what is helping to recover my children. There is no such thing as right or wrong, as you mentioned before, or mistaken, its every day piecing together the puzzle a little more, to get through that tunnel. Everyone's puzzle is different. Best of Luck to you, I am really rooting for YOU and your FAMILY through this! Summer Suzanne szmidford@...> wrote: Isn't it sort of strange that he's only had one floating stool, and no other ones? Guest guest
Suzanne, I saw you mention you live in Richmond Va. I lived there too in the past, and in the Tri-City area. I once did acid rain testing as a science experiment in school. I collected rain water around the area for ph testing. Richmond area is large, and depending whether you live in Richmond Cty or Henrico, there are some major polluters out there. Besides some wood and paper refineries, you have Allied Chemical, A Giant chemical factory, you also have , and depending on zipcode, lots of others. Henrico pollution wise is considered in the top 10 for polluted cities in the US, and Richmond Cty being a little better. I mention this because many of the contaminates in the air and soil are implicated with digestive disturbance and learning issues, and a plethora of other problems, stripping the mucosal layer and overtaxing the lymph system, including the liver. Guest guest
Yeesh, that's depressing. As if we needed another reason to move, on top of the awful school system and the terrible state funding for special needs kids. We happen to live in the northwest part of the county, pretty far from most of the manufacturing (which tends to be south and east, closer to sburg and Colonial Heights). Our wind comes from the west. Do you think this would make our area better than some parts of Henrico? Best guess?
Best guess? Guest guest
Suzanne, Take a deep breath and relax. I am only trying to offer ideas to help you find pieces to your puzzle. Unfortunately, no one can get away from pollution, the laws need to be changed to protect our children, to protect our society. That said, take it easy. There are things you can do right at home, to mitigate some of this too. I would not trust the water in your area. Allied Chemical, among many other factories, have polluted the Chesapeke so bad, which I know you know, not even supposed to put bare feet in that water. Even community water systems cannot remove every trace or contaminate. I would really consider, if you can, getting a whole house water filter system. It is on my wish list too, one of these days, if I can ever afford it. Running a hepa filter and using a vacumn with a hepa filter helps, according to the EPA when I was having contaminate issues. Another Pecanbreader here posted this site, I forget either on Pecanbread or Levin's web site, it will show you the exact companies and contaminates in your area with zipcode. Unfortunately, pollution moves, throughout a city, and while you are better off in northwestern Richmond, it is not much better pollution wise. Even Chesterfield has lots of heavy pollution. www.scorecard.org I really think you will benefit from speaking with and possibly seeing a DAN doctor. It is possible Suzanne to heal from much of this. My boys and I were severely poisonned directly from our land we bought in Colorado, that ARSARCO mine dumped their wastes on and around, never disclosed. It was a nightmare. If I can pull my boys out of this, you can pull Tom through it too. What you are going through will not last forever. I don't want to worry you, I don't want you to worry, especially since you do so much. But I also know, you have not seen that light in your tunnel yet, and I was there for a VERY VERY long time. That light is there. Think that light is there. Talk to Tom about that light. Why talk to Tom about it? Something I found out from my children, even though they did not acknowledge me, and seemed to not understand, were non-verbal, looking at me through the sides of their eyes and all that stuff, it wasn't until they were able to start not only speaking, but communicating themselves, I realized they were still present through all of their experience. Hard to believe how much they learned when everyone thought they were unteachable and very slow. I was so scared and so worried, I wish I had spent more time telling my children they will be okay and they are healing. I don't hesitate on this point anymore. So, please, Suzanne, take everything with a grain of salt and breathe. Summer Suzanne szmidford@...> wrote: Yeesh, that's depressing. Guest guest
We are fortunate, living where we do, to have two excellent DAN! doctors in our area - Dr. Megson and Dr. Mumper. Tom is being treated by them both. Thanks for the advice. Suzanne > > Suzanne, > > Take a deep breath and relax. I am only trying to offer ideas to help you find pieces to your puzzle.
