Dear , Adam and All,

I have in my possession a jewel of a reference book. It is titled " Vitamin

Bible for the 21st Century " by Earl Mindell. It is loaded with valuable

information in small print. It has signs and symptoms of deficiency, toxicity,

recommended doses, indications and what the substance does in the body. It has

info about vitamins, fatty acids, minerals, chemicals such as DHEA, HGH, 5-HTP

and lots lots more. It truly is a bible of a reference. This book has info on

Rx drugs and which vitamins they deplete. Examples: Aspirin triples vitamin C

excretion. corticosteroids (systemic and topical) decrease zinc levels.

Antibiotics deplete B complex, Vitamins C, K and acidophilus, Estrogen

replacement depletes B-6, BCP's deplete folic acid, vitamins B-1, B-6, B-12, C

and E, NSAIDs deplete vitamins B-1, C and folic acid, Flouride depletes vitamin

C, Tetracyclines deplete vitamin K, Calcium, magnesium and iron.. Best of all

it can be purchased in paperback form for $7.50 brand new. It is also available

on line at: www.warnerbooks.com or visit your local second hand book store (my

favorite places).

I hope this helps the two of you. I would encourage anyone to seek professional

asistance from a pharmacist, dietician or naturopathic physician to sort out

nutritional needs. Many teaching hospitals in the university setting have

ongoing research in nutritionals and how they are related to trauma needs,

neurologic needs, alcoholism etc.

Hasta, Herbler
