Guest guest
, I have Personal Choice/Blue Cross/Blue Shield but I know that your child is entitled to Medicaid. In the state of Pennslvania any child with a chronic illness is entitled to have free medical insurance/Medicaid. Thankfully, I haven't had to apply for this but I do know that my children would be covered if we no longer had our other insurance. Call the welfare dept in your state and tell them your situation and that your child has cf, you'll need a form signed by your doctor but I don't think you should have any problem getting coverage at least for your child. Guest guest
, Alabama has a program called " All Kids " that Peyton would most likely qualify for. Information about " All Kids " can be found at http://www.adph.org/allkids/ Alabama Medicaid and All Kids income guidelines can be found at http://www.adph.org/allkids/incomechart.pdf (This is a PDF file and requires Adobe Acrobat Reader to view.) Basicly, a family of three can make slightly over $2,500 a month and still qualify for the limited fee version of their program, which costs only $50 per year per child and $5 co-pay for each dr. visit, at the MOST. Also, if your husband gets a job that offers insurance, your child cannot be denied due to pre-existing conditions as long as he's had prior uninterrupted coverage. So, even if he's healthy and your husband expects to find a job relatively quickly in Alabama, apply for the state programs anyway so that your coverage is not interrupted. That way, the HIPPA laws cover the child's eligibility on the new insurance at the new job. You asked about insurance costs in your post. My husband's policy at work costs about $130 every four weeks for us, covers the whole family, costs us $15 co-pay per office visit, $15 for name-brand prescription drugs, $8 for generic prescription drugs, and pays 90% in-network diagnostic, out-patient, and hospitilization fees. Out-of- network pays 80%. Once our deductible was met, it pays 100%. I don't remember how much our deductible is, but we met it early in the year and haven't had any hospitilizations yet, so it must not be that high. This plan covers dental and vision, too. Costs and coverage vary with different employers, insurance companies, and policies within companies. It sounds more complicated than it really is. Links to all state medicaid sites on the web can be found at http://www.geocities.com/CapitolHill/5974/ Good luck, ~ mommy to 3, 1 wcf > Hi, my name is and I have an 11 month old son w/cf.
