For those of you taking doxycycline, which form did your physician

prescribe for you - doxycycline monohydrate or doxycycline hyclate?

I was prescribed doxycycline monohydrate, told it was more effective -

the generic costs almost twice as much as the more common doxycycline

hyclate.

Actually, the dermatologist prescribed Monodox - the brand name

doxycycline monohydrate - telling me he's had better results with it

than the generic. That's really expensive! (The pharmacist at

Walgreens maintains that the generic and the brand name are

absolutely identical.)

Anyone had a similar experience - or any comments?
