Guest guest
Being sick always seems to interfere with growth for Jake. It sounds like the enzyme increase will probably also help. Flax seed oil is just that -- oil from flax seeds. It is available at health food stores. It's pretty expensive, and I started using it because it contains the plant forms of omega-3s, alpha-linolenic acid, or LNA. I guess there is some question as to whether the body can actually convert LNA to DHA...so I'm not sure 100% if there is benefit. We still use it because it works for us. I save money by using it only with breakfast foods and then use olive oil for other times. )O( mama to , 2yo, wCF and alpha-1 and to , 4 yo, w/alpha-1 but no CF RE: babyfood and scandishake questions , Kennedy was diagnosed at 3 months of age. At that time she was at 5% for weight. She made it up to the 50th percentile and at her clinic visit 2 weeks ago fell back down to about 25%. We are not sure why she fell off the growth curve. She has been sick alot lately. She went from having a cold for 3 weeks to having pneunomia and now she has had another cold for about a week now. The doc also upped her enzymes from 2 plain ultrase capsules to 1 ultrase MT12. He did this because her BMs were large and frequent, not necessarily because they were greasy. As for the breastfeeding, I think that it is very important and have no intention of stoping. Unfortunately, I cannot keep up with her. She eats every 2 hours. I was hoping to introduce a little more food to her diet to give myself a break. I think the avocados are an excellent idea. I will have to mash them up because she is not ready for slices or pieces of anything. What exactly is flax seed oil and where can I buy some?? Thanks for your input! Guest guest
Hi doesnt ScandiPharm make those little sprinkles you put on food, not only the shakes, they like disappear in the food, she could use those, my son never used them so Im not sure of the name but Im sure they are Scandi something or other. They ate calories to the food. It might be called Scandical now that I am thinking of it, Ask at your CF center they should get it for you. Hope that helps Cindy babyfood and scandishake questions Hi everyone, I have an 8 month old daughter that I am trying to make gain weight. She drinks mostly breastmilk and I also give her babyfood mixed with cereal. I asked her dietician and the only thing she recomended doing was adding formula to the breastmilk and to continue to add cereal to her babyfood. I think Kennedy is actually losing out on fat and calories by eating babyfood. A jar of babyfood has about 25 calories and 0 or 1 grams of fat. 1/2 serving of baby cereal has 30 calories and 1/4 of a gram of fat. She eats this in place of one breastfeeding session. I am assuming she drinks ATLEAST 5 ounces of breatmilk, which would be 100 calories. Do you see what I am saying? Is she to young for me to be adding other things to her babyfood....like butter?? Can someone give me some ideas of things to add to babyfood either now or in the next few months to add fat and calories? Also, we just switched enzymes. She used to take plain ultrase, and would get them for free along with ADEK's. Now she is taking ultrase MT12's and they sent us free scandishakes. I am assuming that she is too young to drink these as they are suppose to be mixed with milk. Is there something else I can mix the scandishakes with or should I wait until she starts drinking regular milk? Thank you in advance for any replies......
