Kimber, am so sorry to hear about your eye, but I am so glad you were able to get into the doctor. My father-in-law had problems with his eye and waited a week. It turned out he had a detached retina and he is still going back to the doctor every couple weeks to be checked. We have missed you and are glad to hear you are going to be all right. Guest guest
Kimber, Take care. I had a corneal ulcer and it was not a fun thing. It was several weeks before I was able to wear my contacts again. You are in my thoughts and prayers. W update on Kimber Hi All, I'm going to be a bit slow and brief for my posts in the upcoming weeks. My left eye had some irritation on Tuesday, so I took out my contacts so the eye could rest. Woke up Wednesday morning with it aching all the time, hurt to blink, was watery and painful. So I got an emergency appointment and I've got an ulcer on my left eye that seems to have brewed up quickly, which the eye doctor said usually happens with eye ulcers. She also said I just barely missed having severe damage and scarring of the eye by coming in on Wednesday. I had a check up today with my usually opthamologist and he said it's healing nicely. He said the same thing about my just missing major damage and scarring to the eye. I've got a milky film on the eye from the medication, so I can't see out that eye worth diddly. Unfortunately, my left eye is my dominant eye an the only glasses I have a from a previous prescription (luckily not too much of a change, so I can still see out of the right eye). So, I'll be checking my messages and posting, just a little slower than usual. Hope all have had a good weekend and a good week so far. Kimber -- Kimber Vallejo, CA hominid2@... First your burned finger preventing you from typing, now an ulcer on your good eye! We need to send some good fairies your way to get you out of this bad aura. As a person who can't drive without glasses (also left eye dominant), I know something like that would impair me miserably. So look at the positives, you don't drive, so you don't have to worry about that, and you were smart as usual and got medical attention fast before some permanent damage occurred. It must be a nuisance, but at least you got good care and you know it's going to be better. I'm glad you're okay. Guest guest
, I know. I was told six weeks minimum. The doctor said mine was a particular nasty bacteria and he's so concerned that he has me coming for a check up daily, except the weekend, but he gave me his home phone in case it seemed to get worse or anything, and back to checking up daily on Monday. I'm to take the eye drops every hour (24 hours a day, yes, even during sleeping hours) until further notice. -- Kimber Vallejo, CA hominid2@... Guest guest
Gail, thanks. I'm doing everything the doctor wants. He's having me come in for daily check ups, except this weekend, though he gave me his home number if I'm having any problems. The biggest chore is taking the eye drops every hour, even during sleep hours. I'm going to be exhausted when this is healed. Kimber -- Kimber Vallejo, CA hominid2@... Guest guest
Heidi, yes, it hasn't really been my month. Luckily, the finger is doing really well. All it needs is to grow back the fingernail, which might or might not happen. The eye thing blew me away. I was expecting , a scratch on the cornea or something, not an ulcer. Evidently, the doctor said the bacteria I got was a nasty one and was aggressive, so they are aggressively treating it. I even got the doctor's home number, how's that for a shocker. Guest guest
, I've been prone to injury all my life, though I've managed to avoid breaking any bones, except my toe bones. I broke all of them in a series of hypoglcemia seizures while in college. Luckily I've managed not to break anything else. Just burn...smashed..infect ,etc ....... Guest guest
Kimber, sounds like you are in good hands with your eye doctor. They never did determine if mine was caused by bacteria or a scratch. I went to my pcp first cause I thought it was just a scratch. I didn't see the eye doctor til a couple of days later when it wasn't getting better. Take care. W

Guest guest
Gail, my mom is here this weekend, so don't worry. My eye is healing pretty good. I go back for a check up on it on Monday, so they are watching it closely. Waking up every hour has been hard, but I'm managing to do it. I spent most of yesterday sleeping on and off, but today I got up around 10am and am not too tired.Went shopping with my mom at Home Depot to decide what kind of toilet and sink we are going to get to replace the current set up. The toilet looks like it's on it's last legs and my mom is getting some money from refinancing the house to repair a bunch of things. We also bought a mailbox so I don't have to go down to the garage to get the mail, which is where the current mail slot is. Kimber -- Kimber Vallejo, CA hominid2@... Guest guest
, I've got an eye doctor that I see every year to check up my retinopahty, so when the problem started, I called to see him. He's been great. It makes me wish he was my prinary care as my current PCP does only the minimum necessary to get me out of his office. I've got a new appointment in November with another doctor I'm going to see if he will be a better PCP than my current one. I've heard some good recommendations about him, so I'm hoping he'll be what I'm looking for. Kimber -- Kimber Vallejo, CA hominid2@...
