Guest guest
Hi everyone, Several people have emailed me wanting to know about my self-tanner forays so I thought I would share my " wealth " of information. I have only tried the drugstore brands because quite frankly if I am going to be applying something all summer long, I don't want to be spending oodles of money. This has been my experience. I have tried three brands (third times the charm), coppertone, neutrogena, and banana boat. Coppertone was good in many respects, non-irritating and good color, but I did have to walk around naked for 45 minutes (the recommended drying time) which my boyfriend loved but I found to get old real quick, and the smell was awful. It also stained my sheets no matter when I applied it. Neutrogena barely even colored my super pale Irish skin and the face version made me break out in a rash and pimples. The best one so far? good old banana boat. It's about $7.00 a bottle, I can apply it twice in one day (like on a Sunday) and look like I was in the Bahamas, it dries in about 10 minutes, and it lasts pretty long, as long as I moisturize daily and exfoliate regulary (dead skin makes any tan look bad). For my face, even though it is non-irritating, it just doesn't last after washing twice a day. I have gotten around that by applying bronzer powder, lightly, on my forehead, chin, nose, and the apples of my cheeks. You have to be careful with bronzer, it is not meant to be applied to the entire face, but with just a little practice, it can look like you've been sunning yourself on the beach all day. I hope that this helps! Jena ---------------------------------
