I am not sure about the mm thickness, would have to look at my kids

old reports to be sure, and I am currently in Florida on a work trip.

However, I do know that my two kids with CF who have had sinus CT's

both had complete opacification of the maxillary and ethmoid sinus

cavities and I was told that this is kind of the norm in CF....though

it is a bit confusing, since I was told it was the norm, but the

indication was they needed surgery (sinus) in any case. My son really

couldn't breathe through his nose and kept doing this bizarre sniffing

thing. Anyway, he did great after the sinus surgery, but it only

lasted 6 months and then his sinuses were as bad as before, so after

that we opted for iv tuneups instead which seemed to buy just as much

time at least for him as did the surgery and seems less invasive to

us. (even the windows they created closed). I don't remember if the

CT itself showed polyps, but do recall the ENT being shocked after the

surgery saying that every time he would remove one another would

appear.

I don't know if this helps or not, but at least it is good that it

wasn't complete opacification.

Hope this helps.

> Frontal sinuses are not yet pneumatized, normal for age. Frontal and

ethmoid sinuses appear normal. There is a small polyp (9x5mm)

protruding from the superior wall of the left maxillary sinus. There

is mucosal thickening in the inferior right maxillary sinus measuring

up to 4mm in thickness.

these structures are very small in patients of this age and anatomic

delineation is difficult.

> There is thickening of the mucosa of the left middle and inferior

turbinates. This can be part of the normal nasal cycle although the

thickening mucosa on the left inferior turbinate appears to cause

partial blockage of the nasal passage. A septal deviation is not seen.
