I was 242 at surgery and now am at 164 lbs and feeling ever so much better and stronger. I do have to be careful what I eat though as sweets and greasy food do not agree with me. I can go to Steak & Shake and eat l/2 cheeseburger and about 8 french fries!! I just wrap the rest up and put it in the frig and warm it up later in the microwave and eat it for another meal, so I don't waste anything. I was brought up to believe that wasting food was a sin. I suppose it is, so I try to use up all my scraps. lol Anyway I take a tums before every meal and the Citrucil is very very important. It provides bulk in your entire intestinal track and helps you to feel full and more satisfied. I don't use the sugar free, just the regular. I may try the surgar free next time. but the regular tastes like Tang. NOW let me say this, when I first started using it, it made me nauseated. But that goes away and now I have no problem at all. I have to switch around what I eat a lot of the times. Sometimes foods agree with me and then other times not. I do eat a banana every single day. I eat turkey meat from the delli and I use fat free mayonaise (Kraft) and it tastes great. Also use fat free sour cream from Walmarts a brand that is so good has black and white splotches on it like dalmation puppies have or black and white cows!!! lol Can't remember the name of it?? I love fat free cream cheese and the onion flavored triscuit, which I eat every single day. I love toast and I use real butter and I use the Pamalor jellys and jams that are sweetened only with fruit juices and NO SUGAR. So there you have my tips for the day. Good luck to all of you. I pray for everyone to get to have this life saving surgery. Everyone that wants it and needs it should have it if it is in their heart and they feel led to do so. I knew it was the right thing for me and I praise God for it every day. Dr Rutledge is the expert in this field and should always be first choice if you can get him. He can't do everyone, but I would sure give it my best shot!! Bye now. Love and blessings to all, in Missouri

Guest guest
I emailed Dr. R in February when I first found his site. He said that he does do surgery on patients over 55. I think that 55 is his general guildeline, or the age below which he thinks you get the most benefit. Not sure. I just know that I'm 57 and that others he does are over 55. Could be that he'd prefer under 55. Dunno..but I have 5 little holes with staples and I'm 57 and Dr. R put them there and I'm gonna be thinner real soon! It may be that the age limit was posted before his many, many successful surgeries and he felt that in the right health he could consider those over 55.
