Guest guest
I started having Migraine headaches around the same time that my rosacea started, and they are getting worse. I am wondering if anyone else has migraines and if so what helps to control the migraines? I have just been referred to a neurologist to see if I can find out the cause of these migraines. Has anyone in the group seen a neurologist, and has it helped. I am really nervous about seeing a neurologist as I don't like going to the doctor and really don't want to be put through tests that aren't necessary. I don't even know what is involved in a neurology exam, but it sounds a bit scary to me.
Guest guest
Hi , I have seen a neurologist and have had migraines. The exam is easy, they look into your eyes and check your reflexes. Like does your knee jump when they hit it with a little hammer. It is possible they could order an MRI, but not likely. I had one to check for something else and it was not a problem. Medical doctors often treat migraines with an anit-depressant, an SSRI. or they may give you a med to take when you feel a headache coming on. There are more natural things to do, including biofeedback training, the herb Feverfew, and watching for food and stress triggers. I have switched to the over the counter anti depressant SAMe with very good results, no side effects and good migraine control. Migraines often run in families. My grandmother, dad and now my grandaughter all had/have migraines. Good luck with your appointment.Kate
