Guest guest
I was wondering if you've thought of having them switch her enzymes? I know last year the girls were on Creon 5's taking 4 w/meals 3/snacks and THEN was on 80mg's of prilosec twice a day and Yolo was on 70? twice a day. We switched CF docs and this one thought that was a bit much for their system, and they still had greasy poops and gas ALOT. Plus was complaining of tummy ackes. So he changed them to pancreacarb 8's and 1 prilosec 20 twice a day. get's 3 enzymes now with meals and snacks Yolo gets two. In FL our CF doc there swore up and down they were all the same, obviosly not. That could be a suggestion for the next visit. Have you thought of having her talk with other cfer's a little older than she is? If not in person, on the phone? or on the internet? Maybe talking to someone who's been there done that, might help her realize how improtant it is for her. Her ears might open up a bit more listening to a peer rather than an authority figure. My kids are only 4, 2 1/2 and 6 months so we aren't going through this yet. Maybe a psycologist might help to. Other than that I don't think I'm much help. I hope you can find an answer soon. Guest guest
Wyatt was also getting pretty high in the number of Creon 10 he took plus was using zantac so they put him on the Pancreacarb MS-8 and he takes that w/ no zantac. He does take 5 pills w/ meals and 3 w/ snacks and I think we are going to have to increase that. He doesn't usually mind and he goes to the nurse before lunch and she has him take them. > > I was wondering if you've thought of having them switch her enzymes? Guest guest
> I have a question, my daughter Brittany is 8, and she > takes 900 ultrase MT plains a month Hi, now we all have learned a bit about Ultrase and we now know how med errors can happen. I thought that Tammy meant Ultrase MT and not Ultrase and wasn't clever enough to check for the Ultrase too. Tammy, I would suggest that you ask the doc for a prescription of two different strengths (if that's no problem for the insurance). A strength of 4,500 has the advantage that you can dose more precisely if you have only ate a little bit while with MT 12 or MT 18 you have to take much less pills. We use Creon without capsule (not available in the US) now, because it's easy to give small amounts. And we have Creon10 capsules, because that is much easier to handle when you travel. Guest guest
Maybe you should have her go to a nurses room and take the pills then she wouldn't be doing it in front of the other kids and you would know for sure she is taking them. That is what they do at our school. Deb A

You have a legal right to demand for them to have better care for you daughter in school if that means hiring an extra aid then they need to do it. She has a disability and requires extra care and they need to abide by it. You need to talk to someone from the CF foundation they can tell you what your legal rights are and how they can help. YOU GOT TO BITCH!!! It really works and remember it's for you child!
