Went to the, ER, had a negative work up with no enzyme elevation, so I was admitted w/ abd pain of unknown etiology, went through tests, diagnosed with Idiopathic Pancreatitis. They were reluctant to dx it as CP, but did. Had the Distal Pancreatectomy Sept. 1999. The surgeon who opened me said I had had this for 10 years. So the onset of your disease isn't the same as the date of diagnosis. I am sure that she has had this disease for 12 years. Some people never have elevated enzymes. Hopefully, we can make a difference and change history by writing a new medical school textbook on Pancreatitis.
