Guest guest
Dear Mitch, It is my understanding that everything HAS to be sent all together in one package and no exceptions. Dr Rutledge is very very busy and has to sit down and read each package and evaluate it for surgery. He HAS to have everything at once and does not have time to get things and different times. You have to follow his instructions exactly as he says. He wasn't so strick when I went 5 months ago, but his business has become overwhelmingly busy and he has everything set up to be as organized as possible to save time and money for everyone!!! I hope this helps.

Guest guest
Cathy, I also desperately wanted to have this procedure and followed all instructions. I cannot tell you why this happened, it was totally Dr. Rutledge's decision. My advice is do not try to inject any humor into any of your paperwork and if you don't hear from them for weeks don't ask any questions. That is why I put the subject SERIOUS ADVICE. It is nearly devistating to have all your thoughts and energy aimed at this one thing for several months and then have it all taken away from you. Pretend you don't believe what I am saying and that the doctor is incapable of any error. With my experience with him, and I can only tell you in my opinion, he has shown me nothing less of brillance. He is the only one who does this surgery. DrR is the only surgeon that I know who makes his email address available, and will respond to you and makes patients call everyday regardless of how they are doing..He has shown me thru and thru that his main concern is " US " the patient. He has NO ROOM for error. We are speaking of life and death situations. I m not certain if you are aware of ? Unfortunatly we have lost one patient, for some unknown reason her body rejected antibiotics after a repaired leak. She had an infection and passed away with in days. This is a major surgery that will change you in spite of your self. Have you expressed this in all efforts that you understand you can die from this surgery in you patient info packet, and that you are willing to come to terms with any or all of the possibilties of complications and or even death?? I understand all too well of the let down on such a hyper focus as of this " last resort to weight reduction " . I too had to postpone my surgery. Guest guest
Thanks Lori, you have a good attitude about this. I understand what I have said is hard to believe, but unfortunately, it is true. I feel that I understand the problems of obesity and risks of surgery as well as anyone here. I have been given no reason for being turned down or any hope that I will be accepted in the future because Dr. Rutledge has said I would probably be better off if I found help elsewhere (Open Rny perhaps???) I still think all you pre ops should disagre with me for your own sake. Guest guest
I know how you feel. I have been researching this since January. I have gathered all of my information - did everything I was suppose to do. I have talked with him previously because I had previous WLS. I have been in contact with two other patients who had the MGB and previous WLS and are doing fine. Friday I get a phone call from Barbara in Dr. R's office and she said he does do re-dos and that I could not have the surgery. I had my previous WLS on the first patient information form I submitted back in February and I have e-mailed the Dr. about this before and now all of the sudden I am not a candidate. I feel like I have been kicked in the stomach. I'm frustrated. Sharons43@... Guest guest
mitch, i'm sure you're very frustrated, and i won't dispute anything you have said...i have never met dr. rutledge and won't make any judgments until i can meet him for myself. but your persistent needling of others on this site isn't likely to convince anybody that you DON'T have a major attitude problem. it's pretty obnoxious to suggest that anybody who disagrees with you is doing it just to suck up to dr. rutledge. maybe this is just your hurt and anger talking, but if this was how you acted with people in the doctor's office, then i'm starting to understand why they didn't want to work with you. i don't mean that in a flaming way, but really, if i were a surgeon doing procedures this dangerous and life-altering, i wouldn't want to waste my time with someone who didn't seem to be taking it as seriously as i did. Guest guest
Hi Mitch, Maybe you could call Dr. Rutledge and talk to him in person, and find out exactly why he won't consider you for three months. Maybe there is something you could clarify to him so that he understands your situation. Maybe there has been a misunderstanding. I'm really sorry this happened to you. I wish you the best.
