Hi Karyn, it is so good to be back with my friends. I feel I am now home.

My daughter's knee was injured when she was 15 while playing basketball in

high school. She was running for a ball and had her right knee planted when

another girl who wanted the ball also ran into her without hesitation. My

daughter, 's knee was completely destroyed. All of the ligaments,

some cartilage, and knee cap were extremely damaged. She was given cadaver

ligaments which didn't work well for her hence this is number three surgery.

The doctors say that she needs a knee replacement but is too young. She is a

strong person and has seen lots of illness with me and I believe that has

made her a stronger individual.

What was the problem with your knee? I would think that nursing and being on

your feet constantly would be very hard on your knees. How is your knee now?

I hope it is much improved. I see so many women in pain with their knees.

I believe that women have a much more difficult time with their knees than

men do with theirs.

How are you feeling physically? How is the pain? Are you able to control

your blood sugar? You never complain to us so we don't know how Karyn is

doing. You let us complain, and complain while you work for us and never

utter a word of misery yourself. You can complain too you know. Take care

and know what a great and wonderful thing you have done in so many peoples

lives. Thank you always for starting this support group for without you and

all of your hard work where would we be? I wouldn't have heard of Dr.

Sutherland and the pancreatectomy/islet cell transplant. I wouldn't have

learned so much about the pancreas, hospitals, doctors, medicines, pancreas

illnesses, and of course meeting so many wonderful people who have taught me

so much to assist me in my battle to find the right choices for me to make

with my pancreas illness. So I want to give you a GREAT BIG THANK YOU KARYN

FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART FOR HELPING NOT ONLY ME BUT SOOOOOOOOOO MANY

PEOPLE WHO SUFFER SO MUCH. YOUR HEART IS SO BIG AND FULL OF GOOD. Love,

Shirley
