Hi Helen

I'm new to this group as well but not to pancreatitis. I live in

Adelaide SA...what about you. There is not much in the way of Aussie

support groups available...Drop me a line if you want and I am happy

to share what limited amounts of info for Aus that I have. :-)

Take care

Brett

Hi Helen,

Welcome! I just wanted to say that you might want to take a look

at my above post about my GI visit...I have been finding out a lot

about the possibility of estrogen playing a part in pancreatitis. I

forgot to mention there also that I asked my doc about

progesterone birth control (no estrogen) and he said no...that for

some reason, any hormones can seem to cause problems. Just

a thought....

Hi Helen!

I do not know of a link offhand--I remeber looking at one that

someone else provided that listed meds that can

cause/aggravate pancreatitis--estrogens were listed there.

Others here are so much better at finding info--sadly I am not

one of them :-) So, does anyone else here have the site that

listed those meds????

Also, my GI doctor told me this after I had heard about it here.

And, yes, there are a few others here who believe their problems

began with or are linked to estrogen. I see your problem in

stopping estrogen because it is for hormone replacement...I do

not know for sure how different that is from birth control. I like the

convenience of birth control--i'm 26 and don't plan on a family

any time soon, yet IF it is aggravating my pancreas and could

even possibly be contributing to it then it's one more thing I will

let go. And again, welcome here--it is a wonderful place!

I too am from Australia, I live in Western Australia, Broome to be

exact. I can't help with the support group from Aus, but there are a

few of us on this site. You won't find a better bunch of people than

the one's here. They know first hand what we are going through, and

have and will continue to supply answers, hope, encouragement and

that special bond we all have to each other. My CP is one of the

small percent that has no known cause. Perhaps yours is too. I am not

so worried about how this happened, just in being in charge of it, it

will not beat me, and I am sure it will not beat anyone else here.

Just know that we are all here for you, should you need us. They say

that Australian's are the friendliest people there are, well I think

the American's are up there with us.
