Guest guest
You might want to check out the Migrant Clinicians Network website (www.migrantclinician.org) for basic information about legal remedies for domestic violence. MCN's manual " Addressing Domestic Violence in a Clinical Setting " has a chapter on legal remedies, and the entire manual can be downloaded on the website. The chapter will provide a good general overview of the legal remedies, but beware- they are very complicated! You also might want to check out the Family Violence Prevention Fund program for Immigrant Women (their website is www.endabuse.org). They provide great information as well. Good luck! Guest guest
Hello, I have found the manuals published by the Violence Against Women Office at the Office of Justice to be the most useful resources in this matter. They are extremely comprehensive. I don't know if they only give them to grantees. If this is the case, I have copies and can somehow get the info to you. They are titled, " 8th Annual Meeting of the National Network to End Violence Against Immigrant Women Conference Materials " and Training for VAWO Grantees The Legal Rights of Immigrant Victims of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault. " The Office of Justice Phone Number is 202-514-9675. It's one of those lists you have to listen to before you get to speak to a real person : ). The materials are definitely worth the wait. ----- Original Message ----- From: Vivianne Hoskinson <vivianne@...> Date: Thursday, February 20, 2003 8:04 am Subject: Re: [ ] Fwd: Domestic violence workshop > Here is another good source: http://www.stoptheviolence.org/index.htm > > >>> esther_miller@... 02/18/03 03:36PM >>> > I am seeking information about the legal aspects of domestic > violence and > (illegal) immigration, for a friend doing a workshop on DV for the > Latino > community.
