Look forward wto > person with experience with the SCDiet to help commit here. I have a condition known as Multiple Chemical Sensitvities which struck me six years ago and six months before I started SCD. I met Elaine at a Potluck Luncheon for SCD followers in Toronto. As we chatted and I started to describe my " allergies " she bristled and said looking for many allergies was a " needle in the haystack " thing. I later realized the immune sytem, always on guard to protect us often perceives danger where none exists. In time I was able to separate sensitivities from true allergies. She was really a bear on this but held fast to avoiding any food that would give you toxic shock, avoiding that food forever. Hope this helps. Carol F. Guest guest
> > Dear Carol, and anybody else with experience, > > What you wrote below make since. Before being diagnosed with Celiac Disease I now have over 14 sensitivities, allergies to antibiotics, narcotics and a various list of other medications. Some have caused anaphylaxis...the other ones just give me miserable GI symptoms and hives. I have to be careful with sulfites, and now believe that phenols has been a problem (after reading up on it...it makes too much since and fits the problems our family is having). During this time on SCDiet have any of your problems from the Multiple Chemical Sensitivity disappeared or became more manageable. Does the leaky gut heal...or is it genetic that some of us just have permeable guts (due to genetic predisposition)? > Celiac is the most difficult to heal it seems. SCD helped ease the burden on my immune system and I improved a lot since learning much about MCS on a Yahoo Canadian support group. I get setbacks from unexpected exposure or if I get a visrus. Compared to others I correspond with I have done very well. i also have Latex Allergy which eliminates even more foods. The good news is I can eat eggs, cheese, goat yogurt, many fruits and vegtable, nuts, honey, meat, fish and poultry and use legal seasonings so no danger of either hunger or undernourishment. I am cool with following SCD forever as the alterative is to be ill all the time. Carol F. SCD 6 years, celiac, SCD Cooking Classes
