I had 4 photoderms. The nurse who gave them to me told me the

procedure would cause only a temporary loss of some facial hair and

that it would grow back. I did lose about 75% of my facial hair in

the treated areas. I believe the hair loss is permanent. Its now

been 9 months since the first photoderm and over 5 months since the

last treatment and I'm not seeing any regrowth of lost hair. A few

months ago I asked her if this was permanent and she again said no.

But I have since read and seen news shows about photoderm and its

treatment to get rid of unwanted hair permanently (the darker the

hair, the greater the chance of loss - it does not work well on

blond hair). She also told me that I should not take monodox

(doxycycline) for the week prior to treatment because of the photo-

sensitivity.

Take care,

yes and yes. My facial areas treated by photoderm are almost hairless now

after six treatments. I had them skip the mustache and goatee area after the

first two treatments and they are growing normally.

I'm not an md and therefore not legitimately qualified to answer your second

question; however I will anyway since I'm quite confident that one should

not do a photoderm treatment without at least a week (maybe more?) of

abstinence from medication that causes photosensitivity. Of course, you

should consult a liscenced doc before changing you med intake etc etc.
