Guest guest
Could everyone please post what hard water filters are the best. Should the filter be installed at the main inlet of water flow or at the shower itself? Which types filter the best? I have found that treating the scalp with ZNP bar has had a beneficial effect on facial rosacea with seborrheic dermatitis features. I suspect after having a decent facial topical program which suppresses both p. acnes and p ovale, the p. ovale cross the scalp border to hairline safety. Supressing the scalp flora gives them nohwere to hide. Also, a great adjunct is Vosol otic solution, which will supress ear canal colonization of most pathogens. Interestingly, Zinc pyrithione works better in hard water vs distilled, but soft water still is more beneficial for rosacea skin for many reasons. Would be interested to know which filter to use for the shower. --- Summary Brief Abstract Citation ASN.1 MEDLINE XML LinkOut Related Articles Genome Links ProbeSet Links Nucleotide Links OMIM Links PopSet Links Protein Links SNP Links Structure Links Sort Author Journal Pub Date 1: Bull Soc Pathol Exot Filiales 1988;81(4):721-5 Related Articles, Books, LinkOut [bactericidal activity of disinfectants against certain bacterial strains of S. aureus] [Article in French] Economou-Stamatelopoulou C, Papavassiliou J. Universite nationale d'Athenes, Faculte de Medecine, Laboratoire de Microbiologie, Grece. The bactericidal activity of twenty disinfectants against S. aureus was evaluated by a suspension and capacity test. The effect of interfering substances (organic matter and hard water) on the activity of these disinfectants was investigated by a number of experimental trials. The sensibility of S. aureus to sodium laurylsulfate and zinc pyrithione was affected by proteins. The interference of proteins was not evident for the other disinfectants. The polyvinylpyrrolidone-iodine 7% and the cresol saponatum tolerated the presence of proteins in distilled water, but they were influenced by them in hard water; on the contrary, the zinc pyrithione was more active in hard water than in distilled water. Generally, the second and third incremental addition of microorganisms did not practically alter the bactericidal effect of the majority of disinfectants.
