Ditto. I have one of their hats, arm covers, mask, and

head/neck cover, all of which work great in the car

where you can't escape the beating sun rays. They are

a must for those of us who need extra protection. Yes,

they're expensive, but worth every penny!

trackgalcal,

Do any of the hats keep you cool? I bought a nylon baseball cap from

this company a few years ago and use it only in colder weather

because I get overheated if I wear it in the spring/summer.

Take care,

Matija

That's my problem with hats. I cannot imagine wearing one in public, I have

fine hair and having a hat on my head ruins my hair in a few minutes. Not

that I practice any elaborate hairstyle - my hair is very short, but it

just gets flat and limp and I can go and wash my hair again. Plus I get

overheated just like Matija said.

I wouldn't say the hats keep you " cool " because they are made of

fairly sturdy material. But keeping sun off the face keeps me

cooler than the alternative! The clothing is all long-sleeved and

long pants (no shorts!) but there's mesh along the insides of

many items for better ventilation.

If you're interested, why not call the 800-number for a catalogue

and then ask a customer service rep (on the phone) questions?

They're pretty honest, in my experience. They mail orders for

receipt within a week (in the US) with a guaranteed refund if

unsatisfied.

The stores are in Seattle, LA, San Diego, and Hawaii, so if ever

you're in one of those cities, it might be worth a stop!

(unlurk) Same here! I purchased a wide brimmed straw hat from REI (for $10)

that is wonderful. Of course it doesn't have any fancy sunblock material on

it, but it works. The top has a wide weave that you can see through, for

great air circulation. My head does not get hot, and I live in the desert.

I push my bangs up into the top of the hat so that when I take the hat off,

my hair (shoulder length) looks somewhat normal. Baseball caps are fine when

I take my dog for a walk in the morning, before I have washed my hair. They

don't really offer good sun protection though, from the sides.
