In conclusion, intratracheal administration of tobramycin in liposomes

was associated with marked changes in the pharmacokinetics of the drug

in the lung and an apparent trend for a prolonged efficacy against B.

cepacia. These results support the hypothesis that inhalation of

liposomal tobramycin may improve the management of chronic pulmonary

infections caused by resistant bacteria in patients with cystic fibrosis
