Dear Group:

Since my first E-Mail fell into some deep dark hole

somewhere, we will try this one more time.

I had a problem with my insurance company taking so

long to get precertified (over 6 weeks to be exact)

that I thought I would share as it was so unnecessary

for that length of time.

It started out by me calling my insurance company and

asking for the status of my surgery authorization. The

customer service rep told me due to the cost, it had to

go before the medical review board which takes 3 to 5

days and to call back in a week. This went on for

several weeks so finally I asked my husband to go to

the head of his human resources at the company where he

works where I have my insurance and have them get

involved.

They called and got the same runaround from the csr and

finally after 2 additional weeks the HR department

asked for the supervisor of the csr and demanded to

know what the problem was that was holding up the

precertification. The HR person noticed a circular

pattern developing from the questions that he was

asking. It boiled down to the the insurance company

was waiting for a specific surgery date and Dr. R's

office was waiting for a pre-certification from the

insurance. Once I was able to give them the date

provided by Dr. R's office, we immediately got the

precertification.

I hope this may help someone that may be getting no

where fast from an unnecessary runaround.

Love
