PLEASE do not go to a tanning salon. In 12 minutes you can go from being pale

to being red, even if you are not normally prone to burning. That just isn't

right. The tanning beds are no better then the sun, in fact I have even heard

reports that they are worse. If you want a tanned face, apply a little tinted

sunblock in a color a shade or two darker than your normal skin or try a bronzer

powder. Please try these things first before going to a tanning bed. I have

posted before and I will emphasize again, though a tan is sexy, healthy, and

certainly takes the focus off of having a red face, it is not worth the after

effects that will happen. I went to a tanning bed a couple of times before

vacation one year. I never burned and took it slowly so I thought that I

actually did my skin a service by slathering on the 30 when I was outside and

still having a tan. When I looked at my nice " tan " I noticed that I had little

spots. It looked awful. They faded after a while, but I thought that if I got

that from just a few times, the impact could be even greater with continued use.

I have seen people who make a habit out of going to tanning salons. They look

great while they are young (and by young, I do mean young, teens and early

twenties). Once they start getting into their late twenties when most people's

skin starts changing, they look older than they should and their skin looks

dull. There is a reason why so many people pay money to have microdermabrasion,

laser treatments, collagen, facial peels, botox, etc. etc. etc. they are trying

to combat the sign of sun damage. I know that I sound harsh and I am not

intending to be rude, but please think carefully about how worth having a tan

is. Try self-tanner, bronzer, darker foundation (I'm sorry I guess I am making

a big assumption that you are female), anything first before trying a tanning

bed.
