Heidi, this is great information - I also came across an article about

bruising and pancreatic insufficiency; the article stated that low lipase

levels caused deficiency of Vit K & D resulting in bruising - but I don't

know where I found it. do you know the web site that you got the information

from so I could print it off to take to the doctor the next time I go? The

last attack I had and had a follow-up appt at my PCP's office back in April -

I had bruises on my stomach when she examined me - she even said, " what are

those bruises from? " This is something that I did not bring to the

specialists attention when I was there last week even though it was on my

list.

Many thanks - Debbie in Mich

Here is a link that explains some of this:

at least vitamin K deficency. Seems I also remember a question about

ridges on finger nails? It is called Merkle's sign and is a sign of

being ill for a long period of time....like months. At least that is

what the infectious disease doctor told me. PLEASE bring all of these

to the attention of a specialist ASAP. There are also signs of

pancreatitis called Cullen's sign - bruising around the umbillicus

and Grey- sign - Bruising in the loins. ALthough they are only

seen in hemmorraghic pancreatitis. Unless you are bleeding profusely

should not be present. Most likely is vitamin K deficeicy. I hope

this helps.

Hi Debbie,

Here's the site:

http://my.webmd.com/content/asset/miller_keane_24208

In further searching I found a lot of discussion of malabsorption

and the K and V vitamins not being absorbed because of this. Of

course, it is all related to the chronic pancreatitis situation.

With hope and prayers,

Heidi
