Guest guest
Hi Guys: I'm five days post-op and still in the area, staying at my sister's house in Raleigh. So far, so good. I am not eating nearly enough, nor drinking nearly enough but am telling myself progress not perfection! I do get all of my meds, Carafate and Citrucel in. I am trying to eat and drink but my appetite is gone...it went somewhere and I know not where. I have ankle bones. I haven't seen them in years. They appeared out of nowhere immediately after my surgery and they're still there; not covered by a bunch of swelling. My shoes feel better and I have no swelling in my legs. Maybe when I get home I'll try my wedding rings back on and see if my hands have gone down also. I have had only Gatorade which I loathe, Lipton's Chicken Noodle Soup minus the noodles, yogurt, apple juice (but never again) orange juice, and V8. For now I have all I can do to eat 1/3 to 1/2 of a 6 oz. container of yogurt. I don't have an appetite yet but I'm sure I will at some point. Tomorrow I go to clinic at 9 a.m. and get my staples out. From there we leave to drive back to land. This has been a positive experience for me...I've made wonderful friends while here, been babied by my big (ok, older) sister, and have been doing lots of tole painting to keep me busy. Hunger has not been an issue, nor has cravings. I cannot believe that I have been released from my obsession for even five days. I thought there was no way, no how that this could possibly happen for me. I thought it was all talk. One last bit of advice. Do not miss the opportunity for commaraderie with this family of people. On-line or in person, these are relationships not to be missed out on! These are wonderful people who really care. There were 9 of us for lunch today. It was fun and it was wonderful and I am so grateful to be a member of this wonderful family. This is more than a site about a miraculous surgery!
