Guest guest
Hi all, From time to time I like to drop a line to the group to inform everyone about what has helped me in my battle to put my rosacea in remission. Which I believe I have achieved. I have been a member of this list sinces its beginnings and it has been and hopefully will continue to be a great resource for all of us. Here is what I have found helps me: cea type: flushing, blushing, occasional pimple (but not much to complain about in that area), perminant redness of cheeks and chin. No pain or swelling. No really visible veins, just general redness. Triggers: heat, but not humidity, cold winds, tomato's, alchol, fluride. Me: 28yr old female with fairish skin that tans well - I have always been a big blusher! I have a hetic life style with a very demanding career. Diet: I keep sugar and preservitatives to a minimum, drink lots of filtered water, lots of fruit and vegies, try to keep carbs to a minimum, love meat and dairy. Exercise: I walk for about 1 hour 4-5 times a week by the ocean. My skin loves this and looks best in the weeks where i have done a lot of exercise. I can do light to moderate exercise without turning red! Biggest improvement: photoderm, I'm in Australia, have had 13 treatments, my Dr has never even heard of Dr Bitner, I never had a bruise or a blister. I am positive that I am still seeing improvement even though it has been about 1yr since my last treatment. From what others have reported on this board, my photoderm treatments have been very aggressive ie average 50-65 joules and 570 or 590 filter. I am going to go and have a maintenance tx sometime this year. Other improvements: 1. was my face in warm filtered water, using neutrogena extra sensitive cleanser and johnson and johnson cotton make-up removers - only of a night 2. use dermalogica extra calming booster as moisturisor when my skin is extra sensitive or dry (apply about 3 tiny drops to a face wet with filtered water) 3. use purple emu extra rich moisturisor - morning and night in winter, night only in summer 4. use a spray bottle (aveene from chemist or evian in a spray bottle for the cheaper alternative) when I fly for work and during summer as a coolant, to moisturise during the day and to set make-up 5. use dermalogical extra sensitive sunblock when in the sun or undermake-up during the week - this is a great product 6. clinique stay true foundation 7. be very gentle and empathetic towards my face! Overall improvement - well most days you would no longer know I even have rosacea! On a bad day I may get slightly pink, if I get really embarrassed I will blush and turn pink but it is a light pink and dissipates quickly. I do not flush as much as before and less triggers now seem to irritate my skin. My sister in law - who had never seen me in a real rosacea flush, and did not see me during my 1.5yrs of photoderm treatments always comments on how lovely my skin is.......so I am very happy. cea is in remission. I not longer constantly check my face in the mirror, and I no longer feel compelled to read this board 2 and 3 times a day to seek new and wonderful treatments to help my control my rosacea. I wish you all luck with your rosacea control, I have now been actively seeking ways to fine tune my own routine (above) to the point where it works consistently to keep my rosacea in remission for 4 years...good luck and thanks to all that have helped me along the way.
