Guest guest
Somebody else posted about bacon, labeled low-sodium, that was also sugar-free. Did I get that right? If so, can you provide a brand name so I can look for it? Searched the grocery store today, and so far no luck. Marina Still Surviving SCD Day 1 Re: Re: cheating? www.applegatefarms.com have a big variety. From my reaserch, only four are SCD legal: turkey salami, bologna, hot dogs, and roastbeef; we're waiting for the turkey bacon to have the evaporated cane syrup out. Guest guest
Hi Marina, It depends on where you live. In Canada I use Maple Leaf 33 1/3 less salt bacon. Low salt & sugar free. Guest guest
Sheila; Please excuse my ignorance - doesn't bacon contains nitrates and preservatives? Do you serve bacon occasionally as a treat or is it a staple in your diet? Trying to learn as much as I can before starting this diet. I live in Canada so I'll be sure to look for the Maple Leaf bacon... Thanks, Kim :-) Pre SCD (3 yo ASD, 2 yo NT)

When my dogs smell the Maple Leaf sizzling they wind around my ankles like cats hoping for a few crumbs. Broiling bacon is an easy way to make it without contsnt watching. Carol F. Carol F. Guest guest
Hi Kim, > Sheila; > > Please excuse my ignorance - doesn't bacon contains nitrates and preservatives? Sometimes. It depends on how it is cured. If you find a butcher who will do it for you you could specify what ingredients you want. I believe the Maple Leaf does have nitrates. We only use it once a week or less, with OJ. Sheila, SCD 61 mos, UC 22 yrs mom of Em and Dan Do you serve bacon occasionally as a treat or is it a staple in your diet?
