Guest guest
Yes, we have BCBS and it was very easy to get approved. We called up and asked if the Gastric bypass was covered under our plan. It was and they told me the code they use for it. They said it would be 100% covered if it was MEDICALLY NECESSARY and then gave me a confirmation code regarding our conversation. (For future purposes should I have problems with approval). Well, my husband was 150 lbs over weight, his family has heart problems and his father has diabetes. My husband even had had prior gallbladder surgery 14 years ago. We completed our packet, saw his PCP, got approved and had surgery all within 2 weeks!! (With 100% coverage from BCBS). Good Luck to you. Patti in MD

Guest guest
I am fairly new to this group and was thrilled to see that BCBS approved your husband's surgery at 100%. I 've been dreading the reply from my state employees BCBS group. I know appeals are possible but I would be thrilled if they approved me on the first go around. How long ago was your husband's surgery? I hope he is doing well. I have such mixed emotions about this surgery. One day, I can't wait and then the next day I'm scared to death. But in all reality, this is my last hope. I have gained and lost weight all by life and I can't stand it anymore. Thanks for your ray of hope today.
