Fentanyl works well for me, too, however, like you I cycle through periods of rash and irritation with the patches. I stop them for several weeks and then am able to resume them, Then in about a month, I begin to develop an intolerance again. The ACTIQ Fentanyl lozenges on a stick are wonderful!!. Like Oxyfast, it is a medicine that is absorbed sublingually, under my tongue. I really don't absorb much by mouth, though I continue to take Oxycontin alternated with Morphine, both long and short acting. It is a balancing act for me. I cycle through the different pain medications, routes, dosages, and taper off as much as I can, because I quickly build up a tolerance to them all. By taking myself off of them regularly and by alternating them, I am able to resume the medication at the original lower dose. This has helped plateau off my dosage increases.
