Guest guest
We've been on SCD since 10/05. Results have been nothing short of a miracle. We were GF/CF prior to SCD. I have used some butter and goat cheese in the last 2 months. I have been very cautious and seen really no reactions to it at all. So now, I am feeling brave enough to go for the yogurt. I try to keep up with all the messages and have seen lots of different ways to make yogurt, but I think I'd really prefer to just follow the directions and plug in the machine. Question is, which machine? I'll be feeding a family of 4. 2 hungry and growing boys (3 &7), one really hungry hubby and myself. We are all looking forward to adding something new. Thanks for sharing your opinion. Jen SCD family 10/05, Ben-7-ASD, -3-ASD,
Guest guest
Jen, I have a Yogourmet from Lucy's. It works great. Super easy. I saw that she now has glass inserts for them, if you are moving away from plastic for any reason. You can buy more than one insert as well. That way you can make 2 quarts every day if you like. One can be setting in the fridge while a second batch is starting. Jody mom to -7 and -9 SCD 1/
Guest guest
Each batch of yogurt stays in the yogurt maker for 24 hours. The scenario would go something like this. Day 1-9pm, heat/cool milk, add starter, pour into yogurt maker container #1 = batch #1 Day 2-9pm heat/cool milk, add starter, pour into yogurt maker container #2=batch #2 When batch #1 is removed from yogurt maker, put batch #2 into yogurt maker and put batch #1 into refrigerator. Batch #1 cools sets for 8 hours. Then pour batch #1 into clean container. Wash yogurt maker container. Day 3-9pm heat/cool milk, add starter, pour into yogurt container #1= batch #3 And continue. This way with 2 containers, you can make 2 quarts of yogurt every day of the week if you have a family of 6 that eats 2-3 cups a day of yogurt. Guest guest
I have 3 glass jars, they are easier to care for than the plastic, which got warped , and became unusable. Agape, " Jody G.
