Guest guest
Around New Years I was suffering from the “Angry face” symptoms of cea. My face was very tight, it felt as if it was burning most of the time and nothing seem to help. I have NEVER felt that way before in my life. My Doctor told me about a year ago I had cea but he made it seem as if it was no big deal and I guess since it really didn’t bother me I felt it wasn’t all that big of a deal neither. I only have a few blemishes on one side of my cheek though my nose can be a little pink it wasn’t really a concern. I didn’t even know what a flush was until recently. While I was going through my “Angry face” situation I went out to the Vitamin Shoppe and purchased the Flaxseed oil, Borage Oil, Multi Vitamins, B Complex 100 Vitamins, etc. I began taking my vitamins, minerals and medicine which my Dr prescribed and about a week ago I started feeling my face flush. It was the weirdest thing, not to mention frustrating. Here I was taking all these things that I never took before in my life and now I feel as if my condition is getting worst. I stumbled across a few emails here in the group about “Niacin” and how it could cause flushing. I went through my vitamins and noticed that between the B-Complex 100 and the Multi Vitamin’s I was taking 130 mg when 200 mg can make a normal person without rosacea flush. I was shocked when I read the label on the B-Complex bottle and the WARNING STATED: “This product contains niacin, which should be taken with food. If taken on an empty stomach, niacin may cause temporary flushing”. Since I stopped taking those vitamins two days ago I haven’t felt a flush. I don’t know if it is related but my ocular cea seems to cleared up as well. I use the Ocusoft Eyelid cleaner 2 times or even 3 times a day followed by the Thera eye drops. I am very thankful for this group . Anyone know what foods have Niacin in them? My best, Rob __________________________________________________
Guest guest
Unfortunately the North American diet is extremely rich in Niacin. It's in most bread, cake, pastry and pasta products because they are made with enriched flour. You can get these without enriched flour, but it's harder to find and more expensive. Also, I understand niacin is in beef, chicken, pork,...(and I can't recall what else). Someone correct me if I'm wrong, pls. It's hard to find a B-complex vitamin that does not contain niacin, so if you really want the B's you'll need to get each one individually (which can be a real pain, not to mention a lot of pills to swallow).
