Hi Amy,

The Weigh Down Workshop is a really great Christ-based weight loss program.

It consists of weekly support meetings led by a group member (not a

professional or someone who has necessarily reached goal yet). At the

meetings you watch a video presentation by the lady who developed the

program, Gwen Shamblin and then you discuss your week and the video. Each

person has a workbook to go through and cassettes to listen to during the

week. It really leads you in an indepth Bible study.

The focus of the program is to make Christ your focus, not food and to learn

to eat like skinny people. You are encouraged to learn to discern the

difference between " head " hunger and " stomach " hunger and to rate the food on

your plate and eat only what is good tasting to you and leave the rest.

Also, to eat until you are satisfied, but not to full or stuffed.

It's a great Bible study and not a bad follow-on to our surgery (Claire's

personal opinion).

Gwen has a book out that is available in bookstores and probably your local

library. The workshop itself can be found in churches of all denominations.

We have three that run on different days in my church, but I first heard of

it through a friend in a different denomination. The workshop runs about

$100. the first time and for that you get the workbook, cassettes and the

weekly video. The second time you take it the cost is about $50. and you get

a different workbook and I'm not sure about the cassettes. After that it's

free.

There are also egroups like ours and a website.

Aren't you glad you asked? LOL I know, I'm a wealth of information today ha

ha!
