Chewing hard foods

Anyone notice they flare or get rosacea irritation from chewing a lot

or chewing hard foods like raw fruits and veggies? When you work the

muscles in your face by chewing, blood is sent to the muscle to

provide more oxygen for the work it's doing. So, blood goes into our

face to get to the capillaries in the muscles and gives us a flare. I

think this is a major trigger for me and I was thinking it was the

actual food, but now I am thinking it is just the fact that raw

fruits and veggies are harder to chew and work the facial muscles

more. I am going to try chewing slower and cutting apples and other

hard raw fruits and veggies to lessen the amount of work my facial

muscles work to see if this helps.

Yes, that happens to me also - my face flushes after

chewing crunchy hard foods, and will stay flushed for

2-3 hours. I have TMJ also, and clench my facial

muscles, which also can cause the flushing. Guess

we're all supposed to only eat soft foods - that is

actually what the TMJ specialist recommended - but it

is pretty darn boring!
