There are at least three ladies that I've heard of who have gotten pregnant. Two I heard delivered healthy babies and the third, Kathy (I can't remember her last or screenname) is due in November I think. {{HUGS}} Claire MGB 4/10/00 300/264 15.25 inches lost forever!! Guest guest
> I'm very new to this whole ordeal and am searching out information on > the procedure. Cost, insurance, stuff like that. Do any of you know if > this would effect any prengancy plans for after the surgury? > Patrice Welcome aboard, Patrice! Check out *everything* at http://www.clos.net. Click on everything. Most especially, download and read the patient manual. The cost is approximately $12,500 including the hospital, surgeon, and anaesthesia, but not including any hotel/airfare if you are from out of town. Your cost may be different if you are in surgery longer than usual or have any complications. Dr. R. doesn't want you to get pregnant for 1 year after the surgery because your rapid weight loss could leave the baby malnourished. However, the weight loss greatly improves pregnancy chances because when you are very overweight, your body produces too much estrogen and other hormones, that often interfere with pregnancy. So you need to be sure to use birth control for a year after the surgery (*OTHER THAN* birth control pills, which may not work due to hormone changes after the surgery, and *OTHER THAN* the depo provera shot, which can give you too much hormones and make you vomit a lot.)
