Guest guest
My family doctor diagnosed me with acute pancreatitis. Matter of fact, I went to him, Thursday, thinking I had the flu, he treated me, drew blood, hooked me up on IV then sent me home with the promise that I would go straight to bed and stay there on a clear liquid diet. If I didn't promise, he'd stick my " happy butt " in the hospital. He called me the next morning and informed me of the diagnosis. He knew I had already had my gall bladder out 6 years ago and quit drinking 13 years ago. Had me back Monday for more blood work. Told me thankfully that I had a very mild attack and it was caught relatively quickly. Then called this morning to say that my levels were " dramatically improving " and he would see me Thursday. All I can say if this is " very mild " I really do feel for you who have severe problems! I'm sure that my annoyances are laughable but, remember, I'm new and have enjoyed remarkable good health for most of my life. I'm just amazed that it would take so long to come back and bite me in the tail! Any help you can give will be greatly appreciated.
Guest guest
Right now, he is concentrating on getting me better. He said we'll work on why when I get better. He patted me on the knee and said " Don't worry hon, this ain't my first rodeo. " He said that there are a lot of decisions to make later but not to worry too much about that right now. That just increases the problem. I do know that if it's beyond his abilities, he is the type of doctor that will refer you to someone else. He is my parent's family doctor also so, he knows the family pretty well. He did say that his opinion was that this isn't the first time I've had this just the first time it was diagnosed. I agree with him because I had this pain back in 1985, 93, and 95. They all treated me for ulcers, nervous stomach, gastritis and that type of thing. No tests, not even blood work. And none of them told me to stop drinking! That was the only good thing that came out of my second marriage, I went to treatment and got sober. Since then, my health has improved greatly. My doctor said that it is quite possible that there was conciderable damage prior to me quiting drinking and it's not like the liver. So, seems like I'm being visited by the Ghost of Christmases Past. LOL
