Guest guest
Hi, all. Back at work after my husband's granmother's funeral. Yesterday was tough, but today's been worse. We're being audited at work - as if I wasn't stressed enough! Anyways, I wanted to ask a question. I have read that many of you are being treated by doctors specifically for pain - am I correct in that??? If not, ignore me. If so, please tell me how you got hooked up with these people. I am asking, because I made the decision this weekend to put my surgery off. It was scheduled for October 11. A strong feeling came over me this weekend, and I made the decision without blinking an eye. Maybe it is just my desire not to become diabetic, plus having a surgery that will probably only be for short-term relief. Can't justify it right now. I am going to wait and see if my insurance will pay fo the surgery with Dr. Sutherland. I am supposed to be getting a packet of info from their office this week. If someone could give me info on the pain management, I'd appreciate it. My doctor will not treat me for pain. He says it's too dangerous, but he doesn't live with the pain. So, I need to try something else, as my pain meds are quickly running out! Thanks - Hope everyone is okay! Many prayers to you all - in KY
Guest guest
If your doc is telling you it's too risky to treat you for pain he is snowing you. Lots of docs today are afraid to prescribe pain meds because the DEA and its failed War on Drugs are hounding physicians. There are doctors that specialize in pain management. You should INSIST that your provider give you a referral. You have to get tough on this or he won't help you. If he can't/won't, find some pain management practices locally. Call them up and tell them what your problem is and find out how they treat their patients. Some will only do nerve blocks and other nonsense. You need someone to prescribe opiates for you. If they tell you they don't prescribe, move on to the next one. Also check out the website at http://www.sorcep.com . They help people like us find sympathetic docs who will help. If I were you I would go there first. They are listing pain management docs by state. If you are in NC, I can help you you. Just PEM me. It is very hard to get proper treatment for chronic pain today. You have to get tough and find someone to help, and not take no for an answer. Guest guest
, Check with a physician referral service, the local hospital, the list of good Dr's on this site. You might need a refferal for one. I'm lucky in some ways that I don't have a corporation dictating who I can and cannot see. There are many ways a pain management doc can help. Research and find a good one who is sympathetic and has some knowledge of cp. My pm doc is better versed in cp and the treatments than my GI and Surgeon. I will be having another celiac plexus block this Friday and he has agreed to sedate me. These blocks can be painful but mine has been a Godsend. If you are able to wait for the surgery with Dr. Sutherland I personally recommend it. From everything I've read your chances of not becoming diabetic are better without previous pancreatic surgery. Here's to a pain free day and best wishes in your quest for relief. I would suggest to contact your insurance company and AnnMarie to get the ball rolling. Peace, > Hi, all.
