Guest guest
Bridget & group, my face is always blotchy & also looks like it's lost it's elasticity...even though my face is oily & shiny looking at *all* times, it has this wrinkley/fine webbing across certain area's [around my mouth & cheeks, and forehead especially]...I dont understand why since I'm still pretty young (I'm 25) and my skin is definately not dry! I am so frustrated with this (along w/ the permanant pink/red mask depending on the day)...I just dont know WHAT to do about the blotchy-wrinkly-untoned skin surface I'm ALREADY experiencing at a young age...Is this just part of rosacea?! .....any suggestions (that wont add to oiliness & redness) would be appreciated... -C > > Hi > > Have others found that when their face isn't obviously swollen and flushed their skin looks very untoned. It's not really obvious but it's enough to make one look ugh! - I seem to get this even when I don't have a flsuh and although it's noth obvious enough to point out to a doctor (who only notice the facial changes when your face has increased ten times it's usual size, your nose makes rudolph's look like a minor blemish in comparison to your own and your skin texture is resembling the Himalayas) it makes quite a difference. It doesn't have to accompany a flush and isn't the obvious balloon swelling that I frequently get. I think the way to describe it is that my face looks very untoned and not very elastic!. > > I also seem to be getting face pain even though a flsuh isn't always present. > > I wonder if lasers in the future will be able to zap the veins that the naked eye can't see- i really hope so as I think this must be the problem! > > take care > > the ever questionning B > > > > --------------------------------- >

Guest guest
Bridget, C, and Group, I know exactly what you mean by " unelastic. " It's almost like the face is out of shape, as though the inner layers are uneven. It's hard to describe and probably not all that obvious to others but it is to me. And like C, I am getting a lot of fine lines in the rosacea areas of my face. Mostly they are crinkly, wavy lines. I am in my mid 50s and my dermatologist is blaming this on aging. Well, I do have lines related to aging but these are different and have come since the rosacea and only in the rosacea areas of my face. If there are other board members with these crinkly lines/unelastic skin, would you add your comments and perhaps mention your approximate age. I really think these symptoms are related to the inflammation of rosacea. a
Guest guest
I, too, have the lines. I thought that it was due to age, I'm 53. But maybe this needs a rethink. I've noticed that my skin has really lost its elasticity and I have a lot of thickening of the skin on my nose and cheeks. I always had smooth skin and looked young for my age (before cea). Maggie A. Unelastic If there are other board members with these crinklylines/unelastic skin, would you add your comments and perhaps mention yourapproximate age. I really think these symptoms are related to the inflammation ofrosacea. a __________________________________________________ Move your email to a better address. Over 1,000 domains to choose from! Guest guest
Could those lines be from the skin being drier in the rosacea areas? I know when I flare, my skin gets very hot and after a flare it is dry looking. Age is a contributor to dry skin. I used to have very oily skin and now if I do not moisturize every day with what works best for me I can definitely see the difference within 2 days. Guest guest
Could those lines your are talking about be from the skin being drier in the rosacea areas? I know when I flare, my skin gets very hot and after a flare it is dry looking. So, if your skin is somewhat dry to begin with, I would imagine the flares can make it more so - and dry skin does show wrinkles Age is definitely a contributor to dry skin. I used to have very oily skin. Now, my skin is still somewhat oily on the forehead and at the sides of my nose. But it is drier on the rest of my face and if I do not moisturize every day with what works best for me I can definitely see the difference within 2 days. Also, skin does lose it elasticity with age. I find exfoliating about once ever one or two weeks also helps my skin to look better. Unelastic > Bridget, C, and Group, > > I know exactly what you mean by " unelastic. Guest guest
Not sure if this is what you're talking about, but I get these red lines on my forehead alot that look kind of like wrinkles only they are red. I break out alot on my forehead (ever since I grew bangs) and its oily, but I don't think I have cea there. Its like if I crinkle forehead and those little lines appear that appear on everybody, then when my forehead goes back to normal, the red lines appear/stay. Dont know if thats what you mean by unelastic.. I always figured it was because of the inflammation caused by the acne meds I use there. Guest guest
Hi, I don't have those symptoms (I'm 48) but I think my rosacea started because of hormonal changes due to perimenapause. Elena

Guest guest
I too, am in my mid-50's and until this last year have always had relatively youthful looking skin. I've noticed a huge change this past year - the dryness, fine lines and less elasticity that you are speaking of. I really think that along with the rosacea the main culprit is all of the sun exposure from when I was younger and before we realized how bad too much sun is for the skin. Even though I've long since given up being a sun worshipper I think the damage was done! Keeping in mind that all of us react differently to different products for our sensitive skin I've found the only thing that helps me have more normal looking skin are the cea Care products - I use the cleanser (which I do find a tad drying but if I put on the moisturizer right afterwards it works fine and I only use it once a day to remove make-up) the serum and the moisturizer. I would use these products even if I didn't have rosacea just because my skin tolerates them so well and my dry skin looks so much better. I've tried most of the sensitive skin products on the market (including the Sy products) and they all burn/itch - you know the drill! Oh! I also have seb derm and find these help with that. They have a sample kit you can order so you don't lay out huge amounts of money before you know if they work or not.
