HI

I was wondering how many others suuffer from severe surface denhydration out of

interest. (I know it's not lack of oil as I have mentionned before I am covered

in glamourous papules!).

I am pretty sure mine gets worse after I have had a flare (ofcourse it also gets

worse when exposed o " normal " skin irritants such as extreme cold etc).

Do others feel their " dryness " is associated with flares?

I think it for some reason looses it's abiloity to retain water... hmmmm

YES! I had a flare a few days ago and now my skin is painfully dry and flaky,

yet oily.

It is possible for skin to be dehydrated and oily at the same time, although

this may sound contradictory.

A layer of oil on the skin will help to retain moisture, but if the skin has

lost some of the vital moisture-retaining components it will still become

dehydrated. Especially if it's not being replenished properly from inside.

I don't have a simple answer for improving moisture retention. If you can

find a good moisturiser (which doesn't then cause other problems!) that may

be the best solution.

Dear All,

I'm doing this from faulty memory...but, I think this subject is covered in Dr.

Nase's book (I wish he had indexed it...tough to look things up). If I recall

correctly, I think he said something about the dryness/flaking being a residual

effect

from inflammation. That is, the inflammation actually results in dead skin

cells which then flake off.

Someone with a better recall will correct this I am sure.
