Hi all,

Just had my one month postop checkup and thought I would share. I have lost

19 pounds. I know that may not sound like a lot, but I knew from the getgo

that I would not lose fast like a lot of postops. When I was on Optifast, I

was lucky to lose 1-2 lbs a week and I worked out hard 3-4 times a week and

never cheated once. In six months I lost a total of 42 lbs. The difference

now is that I know these 19 lbs are gone forever. It could have very well

gone the other way if I hadn't had the surgery...I could have gained 19 lbs.

The real good news is that my blood pressure has gone down. My PCP says

that I officially do not have hypertension anymore!!!!! My feet do not hurt

as bad as they did a month ago, and I can now get out of bed and stand up

straight. It used to take me ten minutes before I could stand straight

before. My PCP is very upset with my insurance company (CIGNA) because they

wouldn't pay for the surgery, and he told me to use this in my appeal (blood

pressure down). My PCP is very happy with the 19 lb loss, and I don't have

to go back for six months, when he wants to check my cholestrol...he expects

that to be within the normal range by then because of the surgery.

All in all, I am very happy. I have not been able to exercise yet because I

am still so exhausted most of the time. I have noticed that it is getting a

little better.
