Guest guest
Program Manager. Nuestra Comunidad Sana, a non-profit Promotor/a de Salud (lay health education and outreach) program serving the Hispanic/Latino community of the Mid-Columbia region of Oregon and Washington, seeks a qualified person to support & supervise lay health promoters who conduct projects relating to diabetes, tobacco prevention and cessation, HIV/AIDS, breast cancer and domestic violence. Must be familiar w/ Mexican culture, have significant experience working within the Hispanic/Latino community & speak both English/Spanish. 3 years non-profit management exp. pref. $27-35,000 + benefits, DOE. EOE. 541-386-4880. Closes June 28. Nuestra Comunidad Sana recently received a grant of more than one-half million dollars from the Legacy Foundation to conduct tobacco education and cessation programs in the Hispanic communities of Oregon and Washington. We are seeking a program manager who will implement this project and several others. This position offers the rare opportunity of combining supervisory duties with significant direct service on our health outreach projects. Anyone who started a promotor/a, then moved up to administration but misses direct service, will love this position. For those not familiar with the Mid-Columbia, it is the most beautiful section of the Columbia River Gorge separating Oregon and Washington. It centers on Hood River County, an area of magnificent snow-covered volcanoes and flower-filled orchards of cherries and pears. One-quarter of the permanent residents of HR County are Hispanic/Latino , and 10% in the surrounding counties are. Between 15-20,000 migrant farmworkers pass through this region during the harvest season. Nuestra Comunidad Sana, formerly called La Familia Sana, is widely known for its innovations in health promotion. We have been invited presenters at the National Migrant Health conference, both Western and Mid-West Streams Conferences, the National Tobacco Conference, and many regional meetings. The salary range is commensurate with similar positions in the region, and adequate for local expenses.
