I went to my PCP and he wholeheartedly agreed with me on getting the MGB. He also indicated that he would gladly be following up with me after the surgery. He said he would work with me as much as I need him to get my insurance to approve the MGB. My carrier is Beechstreet PPO and I'm wondering if any of you have had any dealings with this insurance company? Last week I attended a required meeting for another doctor here in Tampa in the hopes that I could see this doctor closer to home. Well, yesterday I found out from his coordinator that I would have to wait until sometime in November to just get my first appt. with the doctor. Well, I then started surfing the web and found this wonderful website that Dr. Rutledge has set up. I'm so impressed with it and am so inspired by all you wonderful ladies in this group! Well, I just downloaded everything so that I can start reading, educating myself, and getting my package ready to send to Dr. Rutledge. Well, I guess I've been rambling, I'm so excited to get approved and get on with my life. Since I'm so new and not familiar with everyone yet, for those of you that are getting ready to get your procedure done soon, I wish you all the best and may God Bless You All. Guest guest
Sheri, I have United Healthcare and was approved the first time I called for precertification. Contact them yourself and ask them for your precertification number. Don't sound like you are asking for a favor, rather, you are doing them a favor in the long run. Practice before you get on the telephone and be prepared to dig deep into your family history (even if you don't have any comorbidities yet). It should sound something like: " I am at high risk for hbp, diabetes, gout, respiratory problems, stroke, heart attack, and the list goes on. " Keep a long list of " problems " you may or are already having and DO NOT sound desperate. They like for you to beg. Hope this helps. in Durham soon to move to Chapel Hill
