Guest guest
Remember when we were responding about attendance rewards and discrimination? Well, I have (finally) compiled our opinions. Anyone want the word doc that contains these opinions and suggestions? Write to me and I'll send it. Don't know how useful (if at all) it will be, but it might give someone the ammunition they need to fight what they are up against. -Lenora -- http://www.lenoradegen.com Give a gift of art...Charming renderings of a home or establishment...Original, one-of-a-kind pen & ink or watercolor...Special prices available only until November 29th, 2002 http://www.cfawareness.org ....in memory...in hope...dispelling the darkness...Learn more about Cystic Fibrosis and the special people who cope with it every day
Guest guest
I found the way to correct that was through a Section 504 where it is stated that the kids would NOT be penalized for being absent for anything related to CF. Rosemary in New York with 3 children with CF - they are 12, 10, 6...I coined the phrase " BREATHE DAMMIT " ; and now we have a dog named - are you ready for this - TOBI after their medication! Guest guest
My daughter is 14 and she has a 504 in school, it's been really great. If she misses more than 3 consecutive days she gets a tutor and the days she misses due to her cf are excused and they do not count against her, she is also a honor roll student which makes me even more proud of her!!!!! mom of 14 w/cf, Cody 11 wocf. Guest guest
Ok guys. Question. When you say due to cf, exactly what falls into that catagory? Cough, lung involvement? Reason I am asking is that has missed 9 days, of course 4 was for mono. But, the rest are for stomach aches (he has always had more stomach involvement). Anyway, I am getting ready to go visit the principal over the letter I got regarding his absences. Today they are both home. Going to the doc. has run a fever all weekend. has no fever, but they both have increased cough. About the allergic reaction post: I went to go get some ibuprofen this weekend, for his fever. I grabbed the generic brand ( Best Choice). I gave him this and Robitussin DM (which he had never took before) and he broke out in HUGE bumps on the tops of his feet and behind his knees. It looked like BIG bites, not the normal hives. I thought it was the Robitussin, so I didn't give him anymore. The next morning he was running a fever again, so I gave him the Ibuprofen. He broke out again - only this time on the inside of his wrists. He has never had a problem with ibuprofen before. I went to walmart and got Motrin, there is a big difference in the ingredients (inactive ing.). I guess there is something in the Best Choice brand that he is allergic to. Another thing to add to his list of allergies, he can't take penicillin or sulfa meds. I don't know if this means he will never be able to take these meds again or not. I do know that the docs completely avoid them with . Well, I guess I will go. Have to get them ready to go to the doc.
