Guest guest
Dear Dr. Rutledge, Good for you for standing up for yourself and not letting them get you down! Change is scary to a lot of people, and especially change that they aren't keeping up with. When I first read about the MGB, it seemed too good to be true to me, too. But now that I've been on the mailing list for a while and heard all of the success stories, I know that this many people can not be wrong. My PCP thinks this is a very good thing, and that only made me feel better about my decision. I'm glad didn't let the rude comments get you down. You have helped so many people, and that is what really counts. Have a GREAT vacation! Deb in IL

Guest guest
Dr. Rutledge, I am so proud of you and I am so proud that you are my surgeon. The only thing I can say to you is to just let the statistics speak for themselves. Pretty soon the others will see what you have. Right now, they don't want to see it. Gosh!!, what if you win the Pulitzer or something? I see that people in all walks of life are jealous of others. Oh, by the way, I really enjoyed meeting you on the 13th in clinic. Guest guest
Dear Dr. Rutledge, To me its always been obvious that the medical community ia very hesitant to accept something new, especially if it seems to be simpler than what has been done in the past. Such as, 20 years ago, their reluctance to accept the benefits of vitamins and aspirin and its impact on heart patients. Everyone knows the benefits of the internet and how it speeds the dissemination of new information in a very short period of time. Prior to the internet it would have taken YEARS for the number of people to learn of you, your clinic, and your procedure, Even through direct mail or phone calls. The internet has made all of us much more informed than Anyone for Any Other Surgery. Thank you with all my heart for leading the way with this innovative new peocedure, and doing YOUR homework to make sure that all goes the way it should. Thats why in such a short time we have gained cinfidence in you and your procedure with our life. P.S. My husband is a graduate from college with a pre-med degree and didn't persue it any farther. When I presented your procedure to him, he immediatly looked at it with a discerning eye, but an open mind. Your openness and thouroughness of communications on your web site convinced him that the MGB Was Beneficial and Objectivlely he evaluated you by himself. I want to personally thank you not just for the MGB procedure that you perform, but the openess, the attitude, the support, and last but not least the information you give us to make our decisions with. Sincerely, Margie Vickers SC ( hoping to meet you soon!)

Guest guest
Dr. Rutledge, Well, what can I say other than there are a lot of narrow minded people in the world, we as overweight people live with that every day of out lives. I'm sorry that you had to be met with that over the MGB that you perform. You are changing lives for the better, physically and emotionally every day and with your stats it doesn't take a rocket scientist to see the better advantages of your lap mini gastric bypass. I guess there are just some people who have a hard time accepting progress in the medical field. There is nothing wrong with being abrupt when you are confident in your work and feel as if your up against a brick wall trying to get people to open up their minds a little. I wish you well on your vacation and hope you will be able to not let a bunch of attitude from the stone age keep you from enjoying it. Guest guest
Hi Dr. Rutledge, I just wanted to take a minute and tell you " thank you " for helping me to change my life. I am so sorry that the people you spoke to at the presentation did not accept your explanation of the MGB. Sometimes folks can be so stubborn and hard headed. I don't mean to speak bad about them, but it does look like they could keep an open mind and at least search for themselves (like you suggested), instead of being so critical. I really just think they are jealous because of your wonderful success. It's a " dog eat dog " world out there and sometimes we don't get the respect and recognition that we deserve here on earth, but our rewards are great in heaven. I believe your mansion will be on " Hallelujah " square, and you will receive the plaque entitled " The Greatest Surgeon " . God has certainly given you a talent and I believe you are using it for His kingdom. As for me, you are the greatest and I appreciate you for what you did for me and I know others do as well. Guest guest
Dr. Rutledge, Don't let the response to your paper discourage you. It has been my experience that most surgeons, you excluded of course, are a group of arrogant but heads. I have not met you as of yet, but I hope to really soon. I have researched bariatric surgery for a very long time now, and I am convinced that MGB is right for me. As for as you web site, I can't think of a better way to educate your patients. Guest guest
Dr. R: Well, all I can say is jealousy is not a pretty thing! Medical " professionals " (I use that term lightly) can be pretty pety. They can always seem to shoot down another persons ideas when they themselves are not the one who discovered the new great procedure! I have found we medical folks eat our own, if you will pardon the pun! Well, I think your website is wonderful! I have recommended it to the folks in my family who want to know more and want to know why I want to have this particular surgery. Have a good well deserved vacation!
