Guest guest
I believe you are referring to pityriasis rosea. If so, I've had that twice, once when I was in high school and once in college -- both a long time ago. I looked it up on the internet and they still have not found a cause or a cure. They just mentioned using topicals to relieve the itching, which I well remember. Both times it began as a ringworm type circle followed by tons of smaller " planets " on my chest and back. It lasted 4-6 weeks. The physician who diagnosed it when I was in high school thought I had gotten it from wearing a new sweater which had not been dry cleaned first. I know I had pityriasis rosea both times in the spring because the first time I couldn't wear the dress with a cut out back I'd selected for the prom and in college it reduced my warm weather activities. It also made my roommates keep a safe distance. Although not contagious, it's not too appealing to look like you have ringworm all over the trunk of your body. I don't think this condition has anything to do with rosacea, however. a
Guest guest
< > thanks marjorie! actually i had a third opinion: first opinion Pityriasis rosea second opinion Pityriasis rosea third opinion Pityriasis rosea i then went on line did mammoth huge endless amounts of research what i found in a nutshell: don't know cause don't know cure somethings seem to help: uv antibiotics topical steroid creams ... what else i found: typically lasts 3 to 5 weeks but in some select rare UNLUCKY cases has been seen to last years and then poof! suddenly is gone .... i'm still waiting for the poof! i was also pretty sure i came across info about theory theory theory that maybe it was the body attacking itself (ain't that auto-immune, doc?) the funny thing is that i put up with an abosulutely covered covered body from back of calves up my whole torso and on my forearms huge ugly rings (no it wasn't ring worm all signs pointed to pytiriasis) and now that it was less after a few years just a few wee ones here and there back of knees ankles occasional on my back or belly i though philosophical-like: " well, at least it isn't on my neck or face " (as a makeup artist, it can be awkward to have visible skin problems no one would ever believe you if you say it's not contagious) i guess i forgot to knock on wood because presto-blammo oh ya about the face, now there's that rosacea thing ... i think it's kind of funny someone should make a black comedy about it ... so yeah, i know it isn't supposed to last this long my gp told me that too i think someone should have mentioned that to my pytiriasis rosea ... stacey maybe if i ever actually spell it correctly it will go away ...
