Guest guest
Marie, You stick to your liquids and do exactly what Dr R says and you'll do just fine. Don't be impressed with what others are doing. I am 5 months post op now and have lost 80 lbs. I have followed instructions and that is very important for maximum wt loss. That is what it is all about isn't it???? Your new tummy is not ready for anything heavy at all. in Missouri

Guest guest
Hi Marie, I still consider you and all the other June 2nds my littermates. I just have two sets of litters. You will be surprised how much difference two days can make. Every day I feel better and better. The first solid I ate were Better Cheddar Crackers and they were great! I had them on Friday while you were having your dance with Dr. R. I had lasagna on Tuesday and it went down real well. I had a little beef stew from Cracker Barrell on the way home and it was ok. I have eaten the crusty part of a biscuit on two or three occassions and I didn't have any problems. I ate the 1/2 sandwich of tuna on toast for lunch today and it was great. I made the tuna with lots of mayo and a little dill relish no boiled eggs. After Dr. R told us that one post-op ate babyback ribs the day after surgery and has since lost 170 lbs I decided that I would try to eat within reason. I do not feel deprived and I'm still losing weight. He did stress that he does not " recommend " eating this soon. Watermelon is fantastic....you can load it up with the salt we need and it is easy going down and it's real juicy. I've also had grapes, honeydew, cantalope and salad. No problems. Just listen to your body. DO NOT OVER EAT!!!!!!! Doc said the stomach is healed at 5-7 days post -op but I'm still careful not to get too much. I hope you're doing fine!!!!!! Love, Genz furball2u@... wrote: > Hi Gang, > I can't believe things some of you gals are trying to eat. Guest guest
You know, we're really all concerned with how much we lose and how quickly. I'm no exception. But when you think about it....I know that I ate a lot, and all the wrong things. But I never ever held a candle to my 190 pounds husband who has two hollow legs and drops 10 pounds in a week by increasing his coffee intake thereby " killing his appetite " . So...when all is said and done, all of what we are saying just adds weight to the evidence that there is something wrong in us that is not wrong with " civilians " as I call them. This ain't something that we did on purpose or caused because we are pigs. We did not get a normal shut off valve. It's no wonder that every day is a revelation to us post surgically. It's no wonder that we are all so different when it comes to how much we can eat, what we can tolerate, how we feel, how the surgery manifests itself in terms of symptoms, etc. If we had bodies that were operating like civilians we wouldn't need MGB, we'd just drink coffee to " kill our appetite " or lose weight from whatever it is that civilians do to lose weight that has never worked for us. I have a good brain. I have a decent personality. I have a good strong healthy heart. So I didn't get completely gypped in the genes arena. But I know in my heart of hearts that I didn't eat so much more than my civilian husband and my civilian daughter so as to cause me to weigh more than 100 pounds more than they do. Each post just adds evidence to the case that we didn't cause it and that we're just trying to cure it. I'm so grateful that we all found a Dr. that knows that we're not just pigs and understands that the " works " that drives us to eat an abnormal amount, and a type that is unhealthy, is a faulty shut- off valve in us, and that he's figured out what the cure is. In essence he has figured out how to bypass the center that drove us to eat when no signal went to the brain telling us not to. We're all going to be ok whether we're eating 2 T of food or baby back ribs. The point is, we have had a miracle bestowed upon us! I just needed to post to say that I refuse to feel guilty for the past. I was given a faulty somethingorother and that's a tough break for me. And I'm not going to punish myself emotionally any more for something that I am convinced was the luck of the draw not my stubborn desire to overinduldge. I still have to pinch myself in order to believe that I will lose weight and that some day I will walk in Wal-Mart and not have people look at me in disgust. I will never get over the fact that all this came about because I was tired and achey and depressed and sitting alone in a camper in Florida surfing the internet when I found this site and this miracle maker, Dr. Rutledge. Life is good.
