Hi , I'm April. I'm from NC and I also e-mailed Dr. R the other day

about the tests, his answer to me was that I had to have the EKG and blood

work done before the operation. But here's my confusion, say I have the

blood work done June 30 and send my package in what if it's 40 days later

when they schedule surgery? What do you do then, have it done over at the

hospital?

I know this surgery is worth it, but gosh sometimes it gets so confusing.

Hi April,

I just had my surgery Friday and I know all this can be overwhelming

at times. I waited until I had a surgery date then called my PCP and

told them I had to have the blood work and EKG because it had to be

within 30 days of my surgery. I was able to get the appointment and

when I went to the hospital I had the papers in my hand and there

was no confusion. I know some have had it done at the hospital in

Durham but maybe this is something Dr. R. has changed. I know if he

is running ahead of schedule maybe he don't want to waste time

waiting on patients to have blood work and ekg. (this is my

thoughts) Also I know I was only traveling 2 hours to get to Durham

but I would have been divastated if I would have gotten to the

hospital just to find out I had a problem and couldn't have the

surgery. So when you get your date make you an appointment. But

have a back-up plan if your PCP can't work you in. Hope this helps.
